The Head of Commercial Banking is responsible for overseeing the strategic direction, management, and performance of the bank’s commercial banking division. This role involves leading the commercial banking team to develop and maintain profitable client relationships with medium to large-sized businesses, ensuring that the bank’s commercial banking products and services meet market demands. The Head of Commercial Banking plays a crucial role in driving growth, managing risk, and ensuring customer satisfaction across the corporate and commercial client segments.

Specific Skills
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial or corporate banking, with at least 2 years in a senior leadership role.

Responsibilities & Duties
  • Strategic Leadership: Provide leadership and direction to the Commercial Banking Group, ensuring the development and execution of business strategies that drive growth, profitability, and customer satisfaction.
  • Business Development: Identify and pursue new business opportunities to expand the commercial banking portfolio. Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients and stakeholders, including medium-sized enterprises, large corporations, and government entities.
  • Product Development: Collaborate with product teams to design, implement, and enhance commercial banking products and services that cater to the needs of the bank's corporate clients. Ensure that the product offerings are competitive, innovative, and aligned with market trends.
  • Team Management: Lead, mentor, and manage the commercial banking team, including relationship managers and other key staff. Ensure that the team meets performance objectives and delivers high levels of service to clients.
  • Risk Management: Oversee risk management within the commercial banking division, ensuring that all client relationships comply with the bank's credit policies and regulatory requirements. Monitor client portfolios for credit risk and implement corrective measures when needed.
  • Customer Relationship Management: Ensure that the commercial banking team delivers exceptional customer service and maintains long-term relationships with key clients. Regularly engage with clients to understand their evolving financial needs and offer tailored solutions.
  • Revenue Generation: Drive revenue growth by increasing the bank’s share of the corporate and commercial banking market. Develop and implement strategies to achieve set financial and business targets.
  • Market Analysis: Stay informed about market trends, competitor activities, and regulatory developments. Use insights to refine the bank’s commercial banking strategies and ensure the division remains competitive.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, including treasury, risk, and operations, to ensure seamless delivery of banking solutions and effective coordination of commercial banking services.
  • Compliance and Governance: Ensure that all activities within the commercial banking division comply with legal and regulatory standards, including anti-money laundering (AML) and know your customer (KYC) requirements.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare and present regular performance reports to senior management and the board of directors. Monitor the division’s financial performance, including profitability, cost management, and risk exposure.
Educational Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field. An MBA or a relevant professional certification (e.g., CFA, ACCA) is preferred.
