About SET4LYF

The School-to-Work Educational Transitions for Long-Term Youth Fulfillment (SET4LYF) program is an ambitious initiative by Junior Achievement (JA) Africa implemented by JA Rwanda, aimed at equipping youth across Rwanda with the skills, knowledge, and mindset needed to succeed in the workforce or start their own businesses. Through practical entrepreneurship education, ideathons, company program experiences, and coaching, SET4LYF helps bridge the gap between education and employment for Rwandan youth.

Position Overview

The SET4LYF Programs Assistant will play a key role in supporting the successful implementation and monitoring of the SET4LYF program across partner schools in Rwanda. Reporting to the Programs Manager, the Assistant will be responsible for program coordination, stakeholder engagement, event and training logistics, monitoring and evaluation (M&E), and administrative tasks. This position also contributes to the development of training materials and supports organizational events and new business development initiatives.

Specific Skills
  • At least 1–2 years of relevant experience (internships may be considered).
  • Experience in program coordination, M&E, or administration in a development or education setting is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and basic data analysis tools.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • High attention to detail and ability to multitask effectively.
  • A strong interest in social entrepreneurship, youth development, and education.
  • Fluent in English and Kinyarwanda is strongly desired; working knowledge of French would be an added bonus.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a diverse team.
  • Residency and legal authorization to work in Rwanda are required.
Responsibilities & Duties

Program Support

  • Assist in planning, organizing, and executing SET4LYF program activities and events.
  • Track program schedules and ensure timely achievement of milestones.
  • Support the design and development of training materials and tools for student engagement and teacher training.

Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E)

  • Collaborate with the M&E team to design and implement tools for data collection and analysis.
  • Support the collection of both quantitative and qualitative data to assess program outcomes.
  • Prepare and contribute to reports and presentations that showcase impact to stakeholders.
  • Ensure programs meet established targets and indicators.

Administrative Support

  • Maintain accurate documentation, including attendance lists, reports, and program databases.
  • Schedule and coordinate meetings, prepare agendas, and take detailed minutes.
  • Communicate effectively with beneficiaries, partners, and funders.

Logistics Coordination

  • Organize logistics for teacher training, student ideathons, company program visits, and partner events.
  • Manage procurement of materials and supplies related to SET4LYF programming.

Communication

  • Draft and distribute program-related communication materials, updates, and reports.
  • Respond to inquiries from schools, youth participants, and partners professionally and promptly.

Other Duties

  • Support the Programs Manager and the broader team in implementing other initiatives as needed.
  • Assist in fundraising proposals, donor reports, and stakeholder engagement related to SET4LYF and other JA programs.
Educational Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in International Development, Education, Program Management, Business Administration, Entrepreneurial leadership, or a related field.
