The Distribution Assistant (DA) will report directly to the Distribution Officer (DO). In cases where the DO is not available, they will have line management via the Distribution Lead (DL) and in turn the Operations Manager (OM).

Responsibilities & Duties
  1. Assisting the implementation and sign-off of LV and distribution/Transmission networks:
    • Assisting the management and undertaking of all aspects of grid builds, ensuring that all work is completed on schedule, to the required standards and within budget.
    • Assisting in the hiring and training of the local labour force, including ensuring that only the required number of local labourers are deployed at any one time.
    • Assisting the leadership of the distribution section to which they are assigned, including other technicians and local labour.
    • Ensuring that all technicians are aware of, knowledgeable of, and completing technical work to the appropriate grid code and applicable standards.
    • Undertaking testing procedures and quality control on all grid builds to ARC Power’s requirements, providing feedback to the DO for overall sign-off.
    • Providing support to the Systems Team with meter installations.
    • Providing support to the Consumer Electrics Teams where necessary.
  2. Health and safety:
    • Assisting the DO in ensuring that their team follows ARC Power’s health and safety protocols at all times, reporting failures to the team’s management and/or raising to senior management where necessary
    • Assisting in ensuring that all distribution teams are working at the highest standard of health and safety
    • Support with documentation of health and safety protocols
    • Assisting in ensuring that other teams working in the field are following ARC Power’s health and safety protocols
    • Assisting in health and safety training at the start of all new projects
    • Assisting in ensuring that regular health and safety ‘toolbox talks’ are carried out and reported back to management.
  3. Assisting in on-site asset management:
    • Assisting in ensuring that asset requests are made to the Asset Team on time.
    • Assisting in ensuring that ARC Power’s assets are secured and managed efficiently once delivered to the site.
    • Assisting in ensuring that any used, lost, or broken assets are reported to the Asset Team.
    • Assisting in ensuring that their team’s equipment is kept in good condition and not lost.
    • Assisting in ensuring that leftover assets are returned and properly declared to the Assets Team after a project.
  4. Provide technical support and training:
    • Assisting in providing technical support to the Network Operations Centre.
    • Assisting in the development of the Distribution Team training documentation.
    • Assisting in supporting the development of health and safety documentation.
Educational Requirements
  • To be studying for or have obtained a qualification in management of field teams.
Professional Experience & Skills
Essential:
  • Minimum 3 years experience working as a technician implementing distribution and/or transmission grids.
  • To have obtained a formal qualification in electricity grid construction.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of the local Grid Code and Reticulation Standards.
  • Experience implementing and monitoring health and safety protocols on site.
Desirable:
  • Minor experience leading small teams of technicians and/or labourers on site.
  • Good English language proficiency.
  • A Category B (car) driving licence.
