About The Job

The Shopping Mall General Manager will be responsible for the operational, technical, real estate and environmental management of the entire site, acting as the owner’s representative and ensuring the mall is run efficiently and effectively.

He/she will be in charge of:

  • Coordinating all internal teams and external service providers,
  • Managing relationships with tenants,
  • Overseeing the proper functioning of all technical equipment,
  • Acting as the Environmental & Social (E&S) focal point on site, in collaboration with the designated E&S Coordinator.
Specific Skills
Technical & Soft Skills
  • Strong real estate expertise (asset management, property law, OHADA, technical operations)
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and coordination skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication abilities; diplomacy and conflict resolution
  • Solid understanding of Environmental & Social issues in infrastructure projects
  • Proficiency in common IT tools (Excel, Outlook, facility/property management software)
  • Ability to work under pressure with autonomy and attention to detail
Experience
  • At least 10 years of experience managing shopping malls, hotels, or large real estate assets
  • Experience in Africa or in multicultural environments is a strong advantage
Responsibilities & Duties
  1. Operational & Technical Management
    • Supervise services: cleaning, maintenance, security, reception, landscaping, etc.
    • Plan and oversee fire evacuation drills (twice a year)
    • Conduct regular site inspections (car parks, technical rooms, common areas)
    • Ensure proper functioning of key systems: HVAC, lighting, plumbing, intercoms, etc.
    • Monitor and follow up on technical works and interventions on site
  2. Tenant Relations & Site Operations
    • Act as the main point of contact for tenants and users
    • Handle urgent or specific tenant requests
    • Organize move-ins and property inspections
    • Maintain accurate records and site management documentation
    • Ensure a high level of service quality for both tenants and visitors
  3. Administrative Management & Reporting
    • Report to the Asset Management team through structured weekly reports
    • Track performance indicators and manage operating expenses
    • Keep detailed logs of incidents, interventions, and key decisions
  4. Compliance, Safety & E&S
    • Take all necessary measures to ensure the safety of people and property
    • Anticipate weather-related events or operational risks
    • Ensure compliance with legal, social, environmental, and governance (ESG) standards
    • Serve as the E&S focal point for the project, in collaboration with the dedicated E&S Coordinator, ensuring adherence to performance frameworks (e.g. IFC standards, local regulations, environmental and social management plan)
    • Participate in internal and external E&S audits, support awareness initiatives, and ensure follow-up on commitments
Educational Requirements
  • Minimum Bachelor's degree (real estate, hospitality, management, engineering or related field)
