The Waiter & Waitress/Banakeli will be responsible for welcoming guests, taking orders, serving food and drinks, and ensuring a pleasant dining experience. Maintains cleanliness, follows service standards, and provides excellent customer care at all times.

  • Previous experience in guest service.
  • Excellent waitering and hosting skills.
  • Food and Beverage knowledge of its preparation and terminology.
  • Understanding of dietaries.
  • High standards of service excellence and a passion for the industry.
  • Excellent presentation and people skills.
  • The ability to work as an individual and as a team.
  • The ability to communicate with guests of all races and languages.
  • An understanding of the etiquette involved in hosting guests of different cultures.
  • Exceptional English reading, writing, and speaking ability.
  • Passion in terms of Service Excellence and be willing to grow in this area.
  • Resilience and flexibility.
  • Visible presence with guests by hosting and interacting.
  • Rwandan citizen or a holder of a valid work permit.
Responsibilities & Duties
The main role of the Banakeli is to host and serve guests in line with the Singita Standards of Excellence and SOPs.
  • Reports to the Head Banakeli, Anchors, Lodge Manager and Assistant Lodge Manager.
  • Ensure ultimate guest relations in the lodge and that the "at home" personal attention levels are maintained.
  • Carrying out assigned tasks effectively and efficiently.
  • Ensuring that the guest and service areas of the lodge are always kept clean and tidy.
  • Work according to agreed rosters and work hours and complete required tasks.
  • Correct use and maintenance of equipment. Communication with departmental teams to ensure that guest needs are met, and operations run effectively.
  • Achieving service excellence through Teamwork.
  • Active participation in and effective communication and support of Singita's conservation message and purpose; as well as constantly looking for ways to further 'green' lodge operations.
Educational Requirements
  • A minimum of High School Certificate (A’Level) in Hospitality, Tourism, or related field.

  • Additional training in Food & Beverage Service or Hotel Management is an added advantage.
