About The Job

The Head of Trade is responsible for overseeing the strategic direction, management, and growth of the bank's global transaction banking services. This role involves developing and implementing trade finance strategies, managing key client relationships, driving product innovation, and ensuring compliance with international banking standards. The position is critical in delivering end-to-end trade solutions for clients, optimizing the bank’s transaction services, and contributing to the overall business objectives of the Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB) division.

Specific Skills
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in trade finance, transaction banking, or corporate banking
  • Deep understanding of global trade finance products, transaction banking services, and international trade regulations.
  • Strong business development and client relationship management skills, with a track record of successfully growing a trade finance portfolio.
  • Excellent analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of risk management practices in trade finance, including credit and compliance risks.
  • Ability to develop and implement strategic plans for trade finance growth.
  • Proven leadership and team management capabilities.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to interact with senior management and clients.
Responsibilities & Duties
  • Develop and execute the strategic roadmap for the bank's trade finance and transaction banking services. Align strategies with the bank’s overall corporate goals and the evolving needs of corporate and institutional clients.
  • Lead the development and enhancement of trade finance products, including letters of credit, documentary collections, supply chain financing, guarantees, and other solutions tailored to client needs. Stay informed of market trends and drive product innovation to remain competitive in global markets.
  • Manage and grow key relationships with corporate clients, multinational companies, and institutional investors. Serve as the primary point of contact for complex trade finance deals, providing expert advice and solutions to meet client needs.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the global trade finance and transaction banking space. Drive revenue growth by offering tailored solutions to existing and prospective clients.
  • Work closely with internal teams such as Risk, Compliance, Operations, and Treasury to ensure smooth execution of trade transactions and mitigate risks associated with international trade operations.
  • Oversee the execution of global trade transactions, ensuring compliance with international banking standards, regulatory requirements, and internal policies. Ensure timely and accurate processing of transactions to meet client expectations.
  • Monitor and mitigate risks associated with trade finance activities, including credit, operational, and market risks. Ensure compliance with local and international regulations (such as UCP600, Incoterms, and AML requirements).
  • Track the performance of the trade finance business unit, including profitability, market share, and client satisfaction. Generate regular reports and provide insights to senior management on progress and strategic initiatives.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing trade finance team. Ensure the team is equipped with the necessary skills, knowledge, and tools to deliver exceptional service to clients.
Educational Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, International Trade, or a related field. A Master’s degree or relevant professional certifications Would be an added advantage.
