The Distribution Officer (DO) will report directly to the Distribution Lead (DL) with a supporting technical reporting line to the International Engineering Lead. Line management if the DL is not present is directly to the Operations Manager (OM).
Responsibilities & Duties
Implementation and sign-off of LV and MV distribution/transmission networks:
Managing and undertaking all aspects of grid builds, ensuring that all work is completed on schedule, to the required standards and within budget.
Undertaking the hiring and leadership of the local labour force, including ensuring that only the required number of local labourers are deployed at any one time.
Leading the distribution section to which they are assigned, including other technicians and local labour.
Ensuring that all technicians are aware of, knowledgeable of, and completing technical work to the appropriate grid code and applicable standards.
Undertaking testing procedures and quality control on all grid builds to ARC Power’s requirements, providing feedback to DL, OM and IEL. Overall sign-off for the grid is the responsibility of the DO.
Providing support to the Systems Team with meter installations.
Providing support to Consumer Electrics Teams where necessary.
Health and safety:
Responsibility for ensuring that their team follows ARC Power’s health and safety protocols at all times, reporting failures to the team’s management and/or raising to senior management where necessary.
Ensuring that all distribution teams are working at the highest standard of health and safety.
Supporting with documentation of health and safety protocols.
Responsibility for ensuring that other teams working in the field are following ARC Power’s health and safety protocols.
Conducting health and safety training at the start of all new projects.
Ensuring regular health and safety ‘toolbox talks’ are carried out and reported to management.
Conduct on-site asset management:
Ensure that asset requests are made to the Asset Team on time;
Overall responsibility for their team’s materials and equipment on-site once handed over by the Assets Team.
Ensure that ARC Power’s assets are secured and managed efficiently oncedelivered to the site.
Ensure that any used, lost, or broken assets are reported to the Asset Team.
Ensure that their team’s equipment is kept in good condition and not lost.
Ensure that leftover assets are returned and properly declared to the
Assets Team after a project.
Technical support and training:
Provide technical support to the Network Operations Centre.
Support development of the Distribution Team training documentation.
Support the development of health and safety documentation.
Educational Requirements
To be studying for or have obtained a qualification in management of field
teams.
Professional Experience & Skills
Essential:
Minimum 5 years experience leading the implementation of distribution and
transmission projects.
A demonstrable knowledge of the local Grid Code and Reticulation Standards.
To have obtained a formal qualification in electricity grid construction.
Extensive experience creating, implementing and monitoring health and safety protocols on site.
A good level of English language proficiency.
Desirable:
Experience developing and iterating process-led styles of implementation management.
Fluent English language proficiency.
A full Category B (car) driving licence.
