About The Job

The Provincial Coordinator–Chili Value Chain Technical Lead will provide strategic and technical leadership in developing and scaling the Chili value chain under a transformative youth agribusiness and climate-smart agriculture program. The role focuses on driving innovation, mechanization, and climate-resilient practices, while engaging youth and women in profitable and sustainable Chili production systems. The Coordinator will collaborate with partners to enhance productivity, market competitiveness, and value addition, contributing to the overall goal of empowering 500,000 rural youth (70% women) over three years.

Specific Skills
Professional Experience
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in agricultural value chain development, mechanization, and youth-focused agribusiness
  • Experience in climate-smart agriculture and digital agricultural innovations.
  • Familiarity with donor-funded programs and multi-stakeholder partnerships.
  • Proven expertise in Chili value chain promotion and market systems strengthening.
Desirable skills
  • Ability to manage day-to-day project operations, including scheduling, documentation, and stakeholder communication.
  • Skilled in multitasking, prioritizing tasks, and maintaining attention to detail under tight deadlines.
  • Familiarity with procurement procedures, inventory tracking, and coordinating logistics for meetings and field visits.
  • Capable of supporting financial reporting and ensuring compliance with donor and organizational policies.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities in English and Kinyarwanda; French proficiency is an added advantage.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and project management tools like Trello, Asana, or MS Project.
  • Experience collaborating with diverse teams including donors, government agencies, and field staff.
  • Skilled in maintaining accurate records,  preparing reports, and capturing lessons learned and success stories.
  • Ability to respond to dynamic project needs and contribute to solution-oriented approaches.
  • Understanding of development and agriculture sector dynamics, with sensitivity to local contexts and youth empowerment initiatives.
 
Responsibilities & Duties
  1. Value Chain Development & Implementation (25%)
    • Lead the design and implementation of Chili value chain interventions at the provincial level
    • Develop and execute strategies to enhance productivity, postharvest management, and market access
    • Facilitate value chain linkages and inclusive market systems development
  2. Climate-Smart Agriculture & Sustainable Practices (15%)
    • Promote climate-smart agriculture and sustainable land and water management practices
    • Integrate environmental sustainability principles across value chain activities
  3. Capacity Building & Training (20%)
    • Facilitate capacity building for youth, cooperatives, and agripreneurs through training and mentorship
    • Design and deliver technical training programs on chili production and business management
    • Support knowledge transfer and skills development initiatives
  4. Innovation & Technology Integration (15%)
    • Support innovation, digitalization, and mechanization tailored to youth-led agribusinesses
    • Promote adoption of appropriate technologies and digital tools along the value chain
  5. Partnership Development & Stakeholder Engagement (12%)
    • Foster partnerships with private sector actors, government agencies, and research institutions
    • Coordinate with relevant stakeholders to ensure alignment and collaboration
  6. Monitoring, Evaluation & Reporting (8%)
    • Contribute to monitoring, evaluation, learning, and reporting activities
    • Track progress against targets and document lessons learned
  7. Gender Equality & Social Inclusion (3%)
    • Ensure gender equality and social inclusion are integrated across all interventions
    • Promote equitable participation and benefit-sharing among diverse groups
  8. Team Coordination & Administrative Support (2%)
    • Provide regular updates and reports to the Project Manager
    • Participate in team meetings and contribute to project planning processes
    • Maintain accurate documentation and records of field activities.
Educational Requirements
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Agricultural Engineering, Agronomy, Soil & Water Management, or a related field.
